JOURNEY PLANNING AND TICKETS IN PRAGUE

We recommend using the PID Lítačka mobile app. It is the official journey-planning and ticketing app for Prague and the Central Bohemian Region and is available in English.

https://app.pidlitacka.cz/

The app can:

  • find the fastest public-transport connection;

  • show current departures and delays;

  • take temporary service changes into account;

  • recommend the correct ticket for your journey;

  • sell and activate electronic tickets.

Because BIOCEV is located just outside Prague in PID tariff zone 1, a standard Prague-only ticket may not be sufficient. The easiest solution is to enter your complete journey into PID Lítačka and purchase the ticket recommended by the app.

The same journey planner is also available on the PID website. https://pid.cz/hledani-spojeni/

Important: If using a mobile ticket, activate it at least 1 minute before travelling. Please check the PID Lítačka app shortly before your journey, as suburban bus timetables and temporary diversions may change.

BUYING PUBLIC-TRANSPORT TICKETS WITHOUT THE APP

For journeys within Prague, tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at Metro stations and many (but not all) public-transport stops.

Modern touchscreen machines accept payment cards/contactless payment; some older machines accept coins only. These tickets should be validated.

Tickets can also be purchased by contactless card from ticket terminals inside Prague trams, buses and trolleybuses. Tickets bought from these on-board terminals are valid immediately (no need to validate).

BIOCEV is Regional zone 1

BIOCEV in Vestec lies outside the Prague city tariff area, in PID zone 1.

On suburban/regional buses to Vestec, if you do not have a valid ticket, you can also buy one directly from the bus driver. When buying from the driver, board through the front door, tell the driver your destination (for example, “Vestec, BIOCEV” or “Vestec, Safina”), and the driver will issue the appropriate ticket. Payment can be made by contactless bank card or in cash. There is no additional surcharge for buying the ticket from the driver. A ticket purchased from a regional bus driver is valid immediately and does not need to be validated separately.

ACCOMMODATION

The hotels below were selected primarily for good public-transport access to BIOCEV

1. Motel U Krbu – Vestec – the closest to BIOCEV

Motel U Krbu is located directly in Vestec, approximately 1.5 km from BIOCEV. It is the most convenient option for participants who prefer to stay outside central Prague and close to the conference venue.

Note: that walking conditions between the hotel and BIOCEV are less urban than in Prague; part of the route is along the road. Also it’s less convenient for sightseeing and evening activities in central Prague.

2. Hotel ILF – Budějovická

Hotel ILF is located only about 100 m from Budějovická Metro station.

From Budějovická, buses 332, 335, 337 and 339 provide a direct connection to Vestec, Safina, followed by the short walk to BIOCEV.

Budějovická is also only about 10 minutes by Metro C from central Prague.

3. Occidental Praha – Budějovická / Pankrác

A more comfortable hotel close to the direct BIOCEV buses

Occidental Praha is located in Prague 4, within walking distance of Budějovická Metro station and the direct buses towards Vestec. Easy to get to the city center.

From Budějovická, take bus 332, 335, 337 or 339 to Vestec, Safina, followed by the short walk to BIOCEV.

4. Rezidence Emmy

Rezidence Emmy is immediately next to IKEM (Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine) and only a few metres from the IKEM bus stop.

Buses (332, 335, 337 or 339 ) travelling from Budějovická towards Vestec stop at IKEM before continuing to Vestec, Safina, so this is a particularly convenient location for travelling to BIOCEV.

Note: Less convenient for evening sightseeing in central Prague.
